Roads play a major role in improving connectivity, attracting industries as well as residential spaces. The Hosur road that connects Bangalore and Hosur in Tamil Nadu is home to the Electronic City, various educational institutions, hotels, hospitals, industrial estates like Bommasandra and Jigani, and various other industries.
The Bruhat Bangalore Mahangara Palike (BBMP) has already taken up widening of the stretch from Forum mall to Vellara junction with a view to make it signal-free. “Once the works are over, the road will be wider by 30 meters with six-lane traffic flow. The stretch between Central Silk Board and Vellara Junction will become a signal-free corridor,” said BBMP Chief Engineer (Major Works) Chikkarayappa.
The estimate says the project will take about 6 months for completion. Works on the Rs 22-crore project will be divided into two phases - from Vellara Junction to Forum mall and from there to Silk Board. Widening of the first stretch is almost complete and the second phase of the project has just begun. “The brighter side is that once the signal-free corridor is ready, traffic congestion on this road will be a thing of the past. We have planned eight under-passes - at Kendriya Sadana, Sarjapura junction (near St John’s Hospital) Forum mall junction, Mari Gowda Junction (near N K Factory) Adugodi junction, Mico junction and Langford junction - which will all be 30 metres wide,” he added.
Having a signal-free stretch between Central Silk Board and Vellara Junction would ensure smooth flow of traffic and will make the commuters confident to use the road. The improved connectivity will lead to the emergence of additional industries along this road - both at the location where it is being widened as well as in places connected to this road.
Located just off Hosur road, on the Chandapura-Anekal road, is Beulah Estate - the 125 acre mixed use development project from Expat Properties.
