Playing a major role in the growth of Nagpur as an international identity, the MIHAN (Multimodal International Hub Airport at Nagpur) has got on to the business of becoming the cargo hub. Deccan 360, a venture by Captain G R I Gopinath, will launch its maiden logistics air hub at Nagpur on November 4. To be called Deccan 360 Domestic Express Logistics, the company will bring in goods from all over the country to Nagpur and will then redistribute them to their destinations by air or road.
The Deccan 360 venture marks the beginning of the first real air cargo hub in Nagpur, which is the basic mandate of the MIHAN project. “We have provided them with 9,000 sq feet space at the airport for their operations and parking space for two A310 and four ATR aircraft,” said MIHAN MD RC Sinha.
The magnitude of the MIHAN project naturally initiates interest in companies keen to set up business here. Being the air cargo hub, the MIHAN project is bound to see the arrival and departure of passengers. Anticipating this, Sun n Sand group of hotels has opened its hotel two kilometers from the MIHAN. Spread over a sprawling four acres of area, the hotel stands eight floors tall. General Manager, Sanjay Punj, said soon after the launch the hotel will apply for accreditation of five star status with authorities concerned and hope to get it soon.
As MIHAN progresses with the arrival of additional businesses and supporting industries, its ripple effect will be seen in the surrounding areas. The region’s real estate will be a beneficiary from these developments as land rates will see a rise.
