 Overview
Tuticorin, traditionally known for its pearl fishery and ship building industry, is the biggest taluka in Tamil Nadu state. It is one of the oldest sea ports in the world. Just 25 kms north – west of Tuticorin is a beautiful small town Ottappidaram. It is 65 km from Tirunelveli. The coastal region in Ottapidaram has extensive backwaters.
